Overseas Students

Step 1: Apply to BC

Submit all required documents to the International Student Programs (ISP) department. Typical processing time is 3-5 business days.

Step 2: Receive I-20 – Pay I-901 Fee

  • Please read the entire acceptance letter and review your I-20 for accuracy.
  • Contact ISP if you find any mistakes on your I-20 form.
  • Pay the I-901 fee (to the US government) at www.fmjfee.com, and print a receipt.

Step 3: Apply for an F-1 visa

  • Prepare visa application documents and make an appointment at the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. Consulate.
  • Look at Tips for a Successful Visa Interview.
  • If dependents will accompany you to the US, apply for their F-2 visas at the same time.
  • If you are denied a visa, contact ISP immediately and provide your full legal name and/or BC Student ID number.

Step 4: Arrange Housing & Flight

  • BC works with three housing companies to arrange your homestay.  Choose one company and submit directly the required documents and fee to the company.
  • Please do NOT send your housing application and fee to BC.
  • Housing companies typically need 30-days to arrange your housing.
  • Arrange your flight schedule to arrive in Bellevue at least a few days before the mandatory check-in date.
  • If you want airport pick-up service, arrange it directly with your housing company. BC does NOT provide airport pick-up service.

Step 5:  Check-in & Orientation

  • All students require to attend the Check-in and Orientation.
  • Bring your passport, I-20, visa, your complete local address, a local phone number, and a local emergency contact name and phone number to the Check-in and Orientation date.
  • Be prepared to pay your tuition and fees in full.

Step 6: Advising, Registration, & Tuition Payment

  • ISP advisors will help you to register for classes.
  • You will get your class schedule after you register for classes
  • Pay tuition and fees in full.
  • Also buy text books at the BC Bookstore after your registration is completed.

Transfer Students

Step 1: Apply to BC

Submit all required documents to the International Student Programs (ISP) department. Typical processing time is 3-5 business days.

Step 2: Receive electronic acceptance letter

Our admission staff will send you an acceptance letter to you via e-mail. Please check your e-mail frequently.

Step 3: SEVIS Release

Please submit your acceptance letter to the advisor at your current school and request to have your SEVIS/I-20 record transferred to BC.

Step 4: Arrange Housing

Local, non-F1 Students

Step 1: Apply to BC

Step 3: Check-in & Orientation

All new students must participate in the new student orientation before classes. Bridge student gets their class schedule after they register for classes.

Step 4: Insurance Exclusion

  • As a non-F-1 student on BC’s I-20, you are not eligible to receive coverage from the BC-contracted insurance plan.
  • Notify ISP office after your registration every quarter and get the insurance fee waived.
