Current Students
U.S. Taxation
All international students need to file tax documents to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) every
year they are present in the U.S. BCC usually purchases a license to use the online software,
CINTAX, to assist students.
(CINTAX is only for students who earned money in tax for last year.) BCC also has a Non-Resident Alien Tax Workshop
in February or March. Attending this workshop is optional. Students are emailed the time and location of this workshop.
All IRS forms and publications are available for download at
www.irs.gov. Students are free to hire tax consultants on their own.
- IF A STUDENT DID NOT WORK (did not earn money) in tax last year, then the student must fill out and mail Form 8843 to the IRS by June 15th.
This form with instructions may be available at the ISP Front Desk. Students are emailed when these forms are available.
This form can be downloaded at www.irs.gov. Students should make copies of all tax forms for their records.
- IF A STUDENT EARNED MONEY DURING TAX LAST YEAR, then they must fill out two forms, Form 8843 and Form 1040NR (or 1040NR-EZ),
and then send both forms to the IRS by April 15th.
Students who earned money last year should receive their W-2 Forms, which tells them how much money they earned last year.
They will need the W-2 Form to complete their tax forms. If a student wants to purchase CINTAX, which will help
them complete these forms, then students can register for CINTAX when it is available. Students are emailed when CINTAX
is available. The cost of CINTAX is usually under $10. (BCC is not allowed to profit from offering CINTAX.)
- IF A STUDENT DOES NOT WANT TO PURCHASE CINTAX, then the student is on their own to complete their tax documents.
ISP CANNOT give any tax assistance due to liability issues.

"At BCC, because of the small class size and the instructors' office hours, students can really get to know the instructors."
