POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director for the Nursing and Allied Health Expansion Project (NAHEP) and Life Science Informatics reports directly to the Director of the Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute. The NAHEP Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and reporting requirements for the U.S. Department of Labor grant to ensure that all outcomes and budget requirements are met.  The Director is responsible for making decisions directly related to grant activities, while bringing faculty and instructional program issues to the Executive Director of the Health Sciences Education and Wellness Institute.  The Director also manages BCC’s Life Science Informatics certificate program and related initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One year of professional experience managing grants or other complex projects; or three years of responsible supervisory and/or administrative experience in a related field. 
  • Experience in managing instructional programs
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and maintaining budgets.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing a large state or federal grant project.
  • Advanced degree in adult education, organizational development, business administration or other field related to the position.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand new subject matter areas
  • Experience working with K-12 school districts and/or programs that provide services to youth.
  • Experience supervising, training, and directing faculty and support staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff and faculty or varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • In the administration of overall grant project, coordinates with the Nursing program, Radiation and Imaging Sciences bachelor degree program (BAS), and youth programs to ensure identified outcomes and timelines are met.
  • Oversees collection and tracking of data required for grant reporting for timely completion and submission of grant reports.
  • Manages budget resources as needed to achieve objectives of the grant, and works with fiscal technician to ensure that all fiscal requirements are met.
  • Serves as the BCC liaison with the Department of Labor.
  • Leads and directs the work activities of the recruitment and retention specialist.
  • Develops project plans and oversees project execution including scheduling, team building, and maintains working relationships with functional areas.
  • Reviews and evaluates project plans and objectives. Oversees project progress with respect to time, budget and demonstrated results and communicates progress to senior management and modifies schedules as required.
  • Establishes quality and performance targets. Applies effective project management methodologies and control techniques.
  • Develops approach and methodology for strategy execution;
  • Develops and implements communication plan;
  • Develops and implements document management process.
  • Establishes and maintains an active advisory committee for the purposes of grant management and instructional program oversight.
  • Manages life science informatics initiatives at the college including certificate program courses, enrollments, faculty & staff, and budget.

SALARY:

The salary range is $55,399 - $64,479 with placement based on education and related experience.
