POSITION:                PROJECT MANAGER, WORKFIRST EMPLOYMENT; REF. #008075

                                    EXEMPT, FULL-TIME

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Project Manager works closely and reports directly to the WorkerFirst Associate Director to develop job placement strategies to meet state board targets for TANF and low-income participants, responsible for placement activities for all TANF and low-income students.  Other duties include: planning, coordinating, and organizing job fairs/mock interviews ensuring appropriate employers are represented.  The position is also responsible for developing new employer relationships for CJST Computer Classes and coordinating efforts with ESL placement staff as well as maintaining previous employer relationships.  The Manager will oversee the WorkFirst database and make sure the database is current and correct.  This position is also responsible for managing the WorkFirst work study program including budget management and coordinating with the Workforce fiscal specialist; student coordination and collaborating with our local employer community to develop work study sites for WorkFirst work study students.  Provides student intake and retention support for other WorkFirst Programs as needed.  Provides marketing and outreach to the Employment Security Department, Department of Social Health Services, and other community based organization to educate and recruit students for BCC’s WorkFirst Programs.  Also responsible for internal marketing and outreach within BCC’s campus community.  The Project Manager position reports directly to the WorkFirst Associate Director

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience with placement/job development working with diverse populations.  Additional experience as specified above will substitute, year for year, for education.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing including problem solving skills.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience creating effective relationships with students at a variety of levels and diversity
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships/relationships with state and public agencies, community organizations, and private employers and/or representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff and faculty of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Outreach/Marketing

  • Gives WorkFirst presentations at local CBO’s and agencies regarding programs.
  • Connects with other non-profit organizations in the community including attending provider network meetings.
  • Regularly solicits and organizes success stories from WorkFirst staff. 
  • Works closely with WF Administrative Support staff to develop marketing collateral and coordinates mailings.
  • Provides back up for the Comprehensive Evaluation, recruiting for TANF individuals

 

Placement/Employer Relations

  • Provides one-on-one job search assistance to students in the WorkFirst CJST office class, monitoring placements and tracking outcomes.  Responsible for achieving WorkFirst placement outcomes WorkFirst for all TANF students.
  • Works closely with WorkFirst partners – ESD and DSHS staff to resolve barriers to employment and coordinates support services required.
  • Manages the employer database ensuring that information is current and accurate.
  • Coordinates and organizes CJST job fairs obtaining a minimum of 6 employers each quarter from student interest and appropriate job skill match.  Identifies community job fair opportunities for CJST students and coordinates field trips to partner and community job fairs.

 

WorkFirst Work Study

  • Manages the WorkFirst Work study program and budget and coordinates with the Workforce Fiscal Specialist
  • Develops jobs for candidates identified by the WorkFirst Associate Director.
  • Works closely with the work study employers to ensure student success and employer satisfaction.

 

Education

  • Responsible for teaching Business Relation curriculum to CJST students
  • Works closely with Associate Director to identify and suggest changes/additions to curriculum related to job search and employment

 

SALARY

The salary range is $42,264 - $50,717 with placement based on education and related experience.
