POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Executive Director of NWCET reports directly to the Vice-President of Workforce Development and provides vision, leadership, planning and development for all national and statewide NWCET programs, products and services.  The Executive Director has the authority and is responsible for management of all NWCET operations and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible information management, informatics, and/or information technology (IT) management experience, business development, and/or education program management experience that includes planning in a complex environment, directing and supervising staff, reviewing and evaluating outcomes and ensuring accountability.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Administrative and teaching experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of information technology applications in different industry sectors such as health care, manufacturing, energy, etc.
  • Documented success in building revenues through innovative market-driven activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience including strategic planning, organizational development and financial management.
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills in an organization with diverse interests and technical expertise.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of information management, informatics, and/or information technology in an educational environment.
  • Demonstrated success in contract or grant development, negotiations and management.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, budget and reporting systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff and faculty or varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as the full time, senior leader of the NWCET responsible for the development of business strategy that differentiates the NWCET and refines its core mission and goals, while executing that strategy through sound practices and responsible fiscal operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state and national constituencies, including the NWCET National Advisory Board (NAB) and State Board for Community and Technical Colleges in order to ensure that NWCET aligns with constituent goals, communicates its achievements and attracts government and private funding to fulfill its mission.
  • Promote the infusion of NWCET’s information technology findings, recommendations, products and services into BCC educational programs, curriculum, courses, and other offerings, along with appropriate performance standards to gauge their success and impact.
  • Act as the lead advocate for the NWCET experience through internal and external committees, local and national technology conferences, summits and meetings in order to leverage the NWCET’s expertise to influence the development of programs at other institutions.
  • Manage NWCET staff, including managing yearly commitments, program performance the evaluation of assigned faculty and staff, and the hiring of staff as required.
  • Establish the NWCET as a center of excellence in emerging technology by the gathering and analysis of information technology trends, relevant economic development, emerging technologies and institutional best practices, and facilitating their dissemination to BCC and other constituencies.

 

SALARY:  The salary range is $77,701 - $93,241 with placement based on education and related experience.
