Inaugural CLA Fellows Program
The Center for Liberal Arts is pleased to announce a new program. The CLA Fellows Program has been established to recognize the importance and value of community civic scholars to teaching and learning at Bellevue Community College. Center for Liberal Arts Fellows serve as mentors and partners to aid the college in its mission to enhance faculty and student civic engagement. In the 2006-07 academic year, Dr. Maynard will aid BCC in developing curriculum modules and faculty training related to the history and work of the United Nations and its various organizations, particularly in the issue areas of international peace and security, economic development and prosperity, the environment, and human rights and social justice. You can reach Dr. Maynard via phone, 425-564-2237, or email: jmaynard@bcc.ctc.edu.
Dr. Maynard’s first public appearance on campus will be Wednesday, February
7 from 10:30 – noon when he will deliver a lecture entitled, Sovereignty
and the Responsibility to Protect, examining the claims of humanitarian
intervention in the face of international terror and genocide, including
the situation in Darfur. The lecture is free and open to the public. It
