Birdzilla
Birdzilla: "The number one birding Internet site." This site is for the birder and the bird photographer. One of the databases lets you search for the characteristics of over 900 bird species many of which include 'range' maps and photographs. Some include audio recordings. FYI. "Starlings were introduced into N. America (New York) in 1890; they have since expanded throughout the continent. Imagine what it must have been like to go birding in the early 20th century without seeing any of these birds!" Funny, some feel that way about crows.

Librarians' Index to the Internet: Photography
This directory of photography sites comes from Librarians' Index to the Internet (LII). Every website found in LII has been evaluated for quality by librarians and others in the library world. This site provides links on general photography and the history of photography as well as links to specific types of photography such as dance photography and science photography.

Nature Photographers Network
If you're a nature photographer, on the Home Page click "Links and Resources." You can look at the on-line portfolios of nature photographers until the moon rises, sets and rises again.

Photography Network
"Photography Network features over 13,000 photography web site listings, along with extensive how-to articles, book suggestions and galleries which make this an indispensable resource for the casual or professional student of photography."

Women in Photography International
"An online resource center serving the needs of photographers, photo educators, photography students, gallery owners and photographic organizations - promoting the visibility of women photographers and their work through a variety of programs, exhibitions, juried competitions and publications." On the Home Page, click on the "Reference Library" for a bibliography of books by and about women photographers. The entire collection listed in the bibliography is called the Women in Photography International Archives and is housed at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University.
