BCC Jazz Bands to perform at Triple Door May 9
BELLEVUE, WASH.– Both of BCC’s acclaimed jazz bands will appear in performance at the Triple Door nightclub in Seattle May 9, starting at 7:30 p.m.
First up will be BCC’s 21-piece student jazz band, just returned from its third tour of China where the ensemble was enthusiastically received. Made up entirely of students, the band has won numerous awards at competitions and festivals, including first place at both the University of Nevada-Reno Jazz Festival as well as the University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in 2003.
Next up will be BCC’s 16-piece Monday Night Jazz Band, an ensemble that includes of some of the region’s most outstanding professional musicians. This premiere jazz band has evolved from a creative outlet for improvising musicians into an innovative, premiere, contemporary big band. From swing to bebop to Latin to ballads, their repertoire has music that won’t be heard from any other band in the area.
Both jazz bands are under the direction of Washington jazz legend Hal Sherman.
The Triple Door is located at 216 Union Street, across from Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle. Phone (206) 838-4333 for reservations.
