Steve Miller named to BCC Board of Trustees

BELLEVUE, WASH.– Washington Governor Christine Gregoire has named Steve Miller, of Bellevue, to the Board of Trustees of Bellevue Community College, effective Oct. 1.

An active volunteer in support of education, Miller has served three times as president of the Bellevue School Board and, in 2000, was co-chair of the successful state campaign for Initiative 728, the class size initiative.

Miller is a partner in the Seattle-based firm of Cowan & Miller, which specializes in immigration and naturalization law. Before joining Cowan & Miller in 1990, he served as a King County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, a Fulbright Fellow Lecturer at the University of Indonesia, Deputy Director of the King County Department of Planning and Community Development, and Legal Counsel to the King County Council.

Miller graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and earned his law degree with honors from Harvard Law School, where he was invited to join the Harvard Law Review.

Miller replaces Jim Dagnon, who has retired from the Bellevue Community College Board after a five-year term.

Serving more than 35,000 students per year, Bellevue Community College is the third largest institution of higher learning in Washington state. BCC offers associate degrees, certificates and continuing education programs in the traditional arts, humanities and sciences, as well as information technology, telecommunications, business, health sciences, social sciences, educational development and numerous other professional and technical fields.
