“Dad and Me” and “Preschool with Grandma and Grandpa” among convenient new Saturday Parent Ed classes

BELLEVUE, WASH.– “Dad and Me” and “Preschool with Grandma and Grandpa” will be among the new Bellevue Community College Parent Education classes offered on Saturdays next year as a way to give busy moms and dads an opportunity to enhance their parenting skills and strengthen their parent-child relationships.

“Dad and Me,” a 10-week course beginning in October, will engage each father-child pair in cooperative learning activities such as building cities from blocks, discovering how things work, playing ball outside and enjoying stories, music and movement activities. Fathers will also take part in five parent-education sessions during class time.

“Preschool with Grandma/Grandpa,” a ten-session course beginning next January, is designed as a low-key opportunity for grandparents and grandchildren to grow closer together. Grandparents will explore the types of activities that little ones enjoy – including songs and stories that build young ones’ literacy skills – and will watch or join in the fun as the children get creative with art activities.

“Parents Only,” an eight-week series of lectures and group discussions for parents of children ages 2-5, will explore a wide variety of parenting issues. The course begins in April of 2007.

BCC’s Parent Education program offers numerous classes for parents and children together in a fun, nurturing environment. Learning focuses on nutrition, health, safety, family relationships, development milestones, time management, child guidance, and the physical, emotional, social and environmental needs of children. Classes are offered for parents of infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers and preschool-age.
