King County Public Hospital District No. 4
partners with Bellevue Community College

, WA - Bellevue Community College and King County Public Hospital District No. 4 have entered into an exciting partnership to develop a medical/higher education campus in east King County.

A key component of the partnership is the development of a first-rate teaching institution in conjunction with the new hospital which will provide clinical access for degree programs in nursing, health sciences, radiation and imaging sciences, medical technology and a host of other programs in fields that are vitally needed in the east King County region.

King County Public Hospital District No. 4 has been proceeding with plans to acquire the 71-acre site at the interchange of I-90 and SR 18 near the City of Snoqualmie for a proposed Hospital Development District. Current plans for the site include a new, state-of-the-art, 75,000 sq. ft. hospital with an expanded emergency department and medical office complex with enhanced outpatient and clinical services, all of which are needed to meet the healthcare needs of our growing community.

Rodger McCollum, CEO/Administrator for Snoqualmie Valley Hospital states, “We are very excited to be a part of the growing medical / educational community of east King County. This partnership will provide many jobs and educational opportunities for our everyone.”

In similar fashion, Bellevue Community College has been involved in negotiations with King County regarding its desire to establish a satellite campus in east King County to provide greater educational opportunities in health sciences and other related fields to meet the needs of our growing communities and to provide highly-trained citizens for our workforce in high demand occupational fields.

Bob Adams, Public Information Director for Bellevue Community College said, “BCC is delighted to be able to develop this facility in an efficient way using resources provided by both parties involved.”

By combining our best efforts, we will provide our residents with the finest healthcare utilizing the latest in medical technology along with degree opportunities in the health sciences and other fields while maximizing efficiencies and cost savings.

By building on Bellevue Community College ’s solid reputation for academic excellence and leadership in the health sciences fields, combined with King County Public Hospital District No. 4’s commitment to deliver the finest healthcare to our residents by utilizing the latest in medical technology, we will build a better, healthier and more vibrant quality of life for our community.

Details of the partnership will be determined over the next year as King County Public Hospital District No. 4 works through the county and city rezone process and secures funding for the proposed hospital campus.
