Noted Pan-African scholar Runoko Rashidi to present free, public lecture at BCC Feb. 13
BELLEVUE -- Runoko Rashidi, a noted expert in the current and historical influence of Africa on the world, will speak Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Bellevue Community College.
The free, public event begins at 12:30 p.m. in room 201 of BCC’s N Building.
Rashidi is a historian, lecturer, researcher and author who focuses on the African presence globally and the African foundations of world civilizations.
He has been called the world's leading authority on the African presence in Asia, and is also an expert on the African presence in Australia and the Pacific Islands. Since 1986, he has worked in particular with the Dalits (India's Black Untouchables).
Rashidi is the author of African Classical Civilizations and the editor, with Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, of African Presence in Early Asia.
Rashidi’s visit is sponsored by BCC’s Black Student Union, Multicultural Services program, Student Programs department and Office of the Vice President for Equity and Pluralism.
