Pluralism Community Advisory Board

Purpose:
The Pluralism Advisory Board will provide knowledgeable advocacy for the affirmative development of underrepresented groups at Bellevue Community College. The group will assist the college to identify successful strategies that will result in increasing the enrollment, retention, academic performance and graduation rates of students from under‑represented groups, across the socioeconomic spectrum, and at all levels of educational attainment.
The Board will, in addition, assist the College to diversify its workforce by providing advice, counsel, and experience regarding new ways to increase recruitment, hiring, development and advancement of faculty and staff from diverse populations.
Provide community perspective and participation in the College's accountability and performance effectiveness measures relative to its equity, pluralism, and inclusion efforts.
Membership:
The Pluralism Advisory Board will be comprised of seven to nine community leaders who represent diverse community groups. A member of President's Staff and Association leadership will serve in an ex officio capacity. The term is two years on a rotating schedule.
Tasks:
Provide recommendations for increasing community‑based partnerships and other linkages that will support the College's pluralism goals as well as those of the partnering organizations and communities.
Consult in the development of, the regular updating, and the assessment of strategies for increasing the enrollment, retention, academic performance and graduation rates of students from diverse populations.
Share ideas and strategies for increasing the pluralism of full‑time and part‑time faculty, administrators and staff.
Serve as advocates and resources for the College in finding successful ways to promote pluralism.
