Instructional Pluralism Committee

Purpose:
In collaboration with Educational Services Cabinet, Instructional Divisions, Curriculum Advisory Committee, and Teaching and Learning Council, identify issues and formulate recommendations pertaining to diversity in instructional program and course content and delivery, organization and governance, and in hiring and assignment of full and part-time faculty; also, develop and maintain a Plan to address issues pertaining to diversity within the Instructional curriculum and organizational units.
Membership:
- Faculty and Administration – total of 8 to 10 members:
- (4-5) faculty members
- (4-5) instructional administrators (including Executive Dean)
- Liberal Arts Representative
- Technical Professional Programs Representative
- Curriculum Advisory Committee Representative
- Teaching and Learning Council Representative
- Workforce Development Representative
- BCCAHE Executive Council Representative (ex officio)
To ensure broad participation and appropriate expertise, additional members may be added by the Pluralism Steering Committee in consultation with President’s Staff.
Tasks:
Develop and regularly update Plan, including mission, vision, and goals, for addressing issues pertaining to pluralism within the curriculum and instructional units.
Provide recommendations for increasing diversity of full-time and part-time faculty.
Provide recommendations for increasing pluralism components in courses and programs across the curriculum.
Provide recommendations for incorporating pluralism components within the general education competencies of college curriculum.
Provide recommendations related to pluralism issues pertaining to the delivery of instruction across the college.
Provide recommendations related to pluralism issues pertaining to faculty participation in college organization and governance.
Provide recommendations related to pluralism in instructional partnerships and community organizations and liaisons.
Identify additional issues pertaining to pluralism in Instructional programs and staff, and propose Committees and Task Forces for addressing them.
