The Political Science Department at Bellevue College seeks to build community throughout our campus by engaging students with the political process. The study of political science is vital not only to a liberal arts education but to democratic citizenship as well as global citizenship. The Political Science Department at Bellevue College strives to offer inclusive and engaging political courses that help students better understand their government at the local and federal level, as well as encourage students to become active in civic engagements.

Our diverse faculty, afford students the opportunity to understand politics from a myriad of perspectives and areas of expertise.

The core political science courses for a standard bachelor’s degree are; Introduction To Political Science, American Government, Comparative Politics, and International Relations. These core courses are offered yearly by the department. In addition, the department regularly offers specialized courses that take an in-depth look into key political issues such as human rights, environmental politics, gender and sexuality, and more.
