When does the program begin?
A new class of approximately 12 students starts fall quarter.
When should I apply?
From December 1 to February 28.
Where should I submit the completed applications?
Applications must be submitted to Imaging Sciences, A251 on the BCC campus between December 1st and February 28th.
Transcripts are required with the application.
Do I need to complete all prerequisite courses?
All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to starting the therapy program. A person may apply to the program before completing all prerequisites. However, they must demonstrate the ability to complete the prerequisites prior to starting the program. Person who have completed all prerequisites by the time of interviews, receive preference over those who have not completed all the prerequisites.
Do I need to complete the prerequisite courses at Bellevue Community College?
Prerequisite courses may be completed at any accredited community or four year college. It's the student's responsibility to assure that courses taken at other institutions of higher education meet the curriculum context of BCC courses.
Do I attend class during the Summer Quarter?
Yes. Students attend clinical education classes for eleven weeks each Summer Quarter.
Do I receive all my clinical education instruction at one clinical education center?
The program requires that each student receive clinical instruction at a minimum of two clinical education centers.
Do I need to visit a radiation therapy department?
The applicant must visit at least two radiation therapy departments prior to the interview with the Admissions Committee. The applicant should plan to spend at least four hours at each of the two departments.
Are there homework assignments outside of class time?
Yes, students should be prepared to devote ten to fifteen hours a week completing homework.
Can the program be taken part-time?
The program is designed for full-time attendance.
Are the classes during the day or evening?
All clinical education classes are offered during the day. Most didactic classes are also scheduled between 8:00 am and 5:00 PM. Occasionally, a course may be scheduled during the evening.
How are students selected to the program?
Prospective students are evaluated in the following areas:
Academic ability,communication skills, interest and knowledge in the field
An interview with the program's Admissions Committee is required. Interviews normally take place in March.
