Bellevue College’s RISE Learning Institute is proud to announce the Makers & Scholars Summer Experience, a series of 5 workshops and makerspace events. Students who participate in 4 or more events will receive a certificate as a RISE Learning Institute Maker & Scholar.*

BY REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT, YOU INDICATE THAT YOU INTEND TO ATTEND ALL OF THE WORKSHOPS LISTED BELOW. (You can register for just one or two individual events, but priority will be given to students who register for the entire series.)

All events begin in the BC Library Collaboratory.
Maker Faire

Sequencing DNA or Fire Engineering
Weds. June 28, 1:30 to 4:00pm. Two events. Participants choose between Sequencing DNA (with Stacey Gregersen) or Fire Engineering (with Lindi Mujugira)
New Frontiers of 3D Design: 3D Printing, CNC, Etching & Carving
Weds. July 5, 1:30 to 3:20pm – Workshop on New Frontiers of 3D Design: CNC, 3D Printing, Etching & Carving (with Jono Vaughn & others)
Thurs. July 6, noon to 4:30pm – Pop-up Makerspace Featuring 3D Design 3D Design: Print, machine, etch, or carve something amazing
Intro to Arduino & Robotics
Weds. July 12, 1:30 to 3:20pm – Arduino Basics Workshop (with Caleb Teel)
Thurs. July 13, noon to 4:30pm – Pop-up Makerspace featuring Arduino & Robotics: Build your own robot or device.
Wikispeed: Build a Carbon Fiber Car that Gets 100MPG
Sprint One – Tues. July 18, 1:30 to 3:20.
Sprint Two – Weds. July 19, 1:30 to 3:20
Yes, that’s right: we’ll really have a Wikispeed carbon fiber car on campus.  And you can work on it–even if you don’t know anything about auto mechanics.  Both days contain similar content; you may attend either or both days.
The Art of the Pitch: How to Promote Your Creations & Ideas
Weds. July 26 and Thurs. July 27, 1:30 to 3:20pm. Led by Jen Anderson.  This event will conclude with a pitch contest, and there will be prizes (TBD) for the winning students
