Bellevue College Tuition Refund Appeal Process

  • IMPORTANT: Student appeals for tuition refunds are considered only for the special circumstances listed below, where the circumstance is of such a severity or duration that completion of the quarter is not possible. Bellevue College Procedure 2450 RCW 28B.15.605
  • Students whose tuition and fees are paid by financial aid may not be eligible for a refund even if the appeal is approved. Refunds are paid back to the original source of payment such as a credit card, scholarship, third-party payer, or Financial Aid. For more information, please contact the Financial Aid office.
Allowable CircumstancesSpecific QualificationsDocumentation Required
1. Student illness Illness of the student (illness of parent, spouse, or child on a case-by-case basis)Health Provider Verification Form
submitted by the appropriate health care professional
2. Call to active U.S. military duty Call to active military duty.Submit military orders showing the effective date of deployment.
3. DeathDeath in the immediate family (parent, spouse, child, sibling).Submit death certificate, obituary notice, memorial program or news article.
4. Institutional ErrorStudent advised incorrectly by a representative of Bellevue College Submit a written statement from a Bellevue College supervisor explaining how the supervisor’s work unit was in error.

Instructions:

  • Fill out the Tuition Refund Appeal Form
  • Include a statement explaining how you meet the criteria for a tuition refund
  • Attach copies of required documentation for one of the 4 circumstances listed

If the appeal is due to student illness, also

  • Print and sign the “Student’s Consent to Release Medical Information” section at the bottom of the Health Provider Verification Form
  • Submit the form to the appropriate health care professional and turn in the completed form along with your appeal.
  • Submit the signed form via the online form, or through the mail or hand-deliver and any supplemental documentation to:
