Constitutional Title Change
Current Title: Vice-President for Student Affairs and Pluralism
Proposed Change: Vice-President of Equity and Pluralism
Rationale
The intent of this initiative is to change the current title of the Associated Student Government Vice President of Student Affairs and Pluralism to Vice President of Equity and Pluralism. This title change is proposed because Vice-President for Student Affairs and Pluralism has been serving as a resource for students since the position was created and added to the ASBCC Constitution. The position has assisted many students through complex situations that presented themselves during studies or life on campus. There have been many grievances the officer fulfilling this position has helped resolve. They have also worked with the creation of different programs, safe zones and projects dedicated to help all and any kind of students. It is due to the overwhelming undertaking this position faces on a day to day basis that the title change to Vice-president of Equity and Pluralism has been proposed. The Chief Justice would assume the role of the Student Affairs Liaison. This would better reflect the time commitment, duties, and responsibilities of the position as well as facilitate the different positions in dedicating the necessary time to students without any compromise.
Do you agree with this change?
