Chris has worked in Student Engagement for more than 10 years, managing all finances, travel, and risk management for the department. He holds a B.S. in Geology and Mineral Exploration from the Institute of Mining and Geology in Sofia, Bulgaria, an M.S. in Geology from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of British Columbia — educational experiences which give him a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students on international study programs. He also served a two year assignment in the Bulgarian Army after being drafted into a unit for elite athletes. He says the experience helped him mature, and taught him responsibility and a respect for authority.
With his deep interest in sustainable practices and environmental issues, Chris believes staff and faculty need to integrate sustainable practices into their daily regimes in order to better educate students and serve as role models. Chris serves as Advisor to the TELOS Student Organization and to many of the sports clubs on campus.
