Water Consumption: Current and Proposed Retrofits

Date posted: January 4, 2012

Bellevue College is working with Ameresco Quantum to conduct a campus-wide audit of energy and water resource consumption to identify opportunities for savings as part of the Washington State Energy Services Contracting program.

Results of the water audit are now available.  They paint an interesting picture of estimated current and future water consumption under a retrofit scenario.

Proposed retrofits include:

  • Aerators on non-maintenance sinks to 0.5 gallons per minute
  • Urinals reduced to 1 gallon per flush
  • Toilets reduced to 2.2 gallons per flush in older buildings and 1.6 gallons per flush in newer buildings.
