Resources to Fit Your Commuting Style this Spring!
Ready for Spring? We’re sure ready to help you enjoy the ride to campus – be it rain or shine!
Unfamiliar with trip planning or bus services on the Eastside? Let us help! Hopelink has partnered with Bellevue College to provide you information on how to best get to campus. Stop by our table at the New Student Open House on Wednesday, April 2nd, or find our Transportation Assistance tables near the Cafeteria or the Bus shelter during the first two weeks of classes. Our volunteers can familiarize you with tools like Metro’s trip planner or maximizing the effectiveness of a Google Maps trip plan. In addition, they can provide you with resources such as bike maps of Bellevue, information on ORCA and Commuter Check, and instructions on how to create your account on BC RideMatch to start saving gas and time by carpooling!
On the first Tuesday and Wednesday of the quarter (April 8th and 16th), from 9am to 2pm, ORCA To-Go will return to the Cafeteria to sell ORCA cards! Here you will be able to purchase youth cards (18 and under) and Reduced Fare Regional Passes, with appropriate ID and proof of eligibility. Email email@example.com for more information.
Commuter Check for ORCA:
Don’t forget to purchase your Commuter Check for ORCA before they run out! We only have a limited supply of these prepaid debit cards, which will double your bus money. If you are registered for 5 or more credits, you may buy a Commuter Check with $120 for only $60. Or, if you are registered for 10 or more credits, you can purchase a $240 value Commuter Check for only $120. Don’t wait, these go on sale March 31st at the cashier in B126.
Bellevue College’s own carpooling site can help you find someone to share the ride to campus with! Split the cost of gas and save time by taking carpool. Use RideMatch and win great prizes:
Spring on Board! – New Users
April 1st-April 30th
If you don’t already have an account, sign up with BC RideMatch using your Bellevue College email address to be eligible to win $25. But be sure to finish your account by validating it and then creating a trip so you can start finding matches in your area. Only 25 prizes available; make your account before they’re gone!
April 1st-April 30th
Already have a BC RideMatch account, but forgot to use your BC email address? It’s likely that you’re not in the Bellevue College network, and are ineligible for prizes. Luckily, you can add yourself to the BC network by searching for Bellevue College under the “My Networks” tab. We’ve got $25 prizes for those who associate their RideMatch accounts with the Bellevue College network this Spring.
Join BC’s own Bike to Work month event and win $25. You can find this event under your “Event” tab. Just create a trip (be sure to specify that biking is your mode of transport) and you can find fellow BC-ers in your area to bike to campus with. Then be sure to request the $25 prize under the “Rewards” > “Incentive Programs” tab.
Questions about BC RideMatch or how you can be eligible for prizes? Email firstname.lastname@example.org, call (425) 564-2134, or stop by the Transportation Desk in C106.
Earth Week Transportation Fair on Monday, April 21st
Learn all you could want to know about biking, busing, CarSharing, electric cars, and transportation on the Eastside at our very own transportation fair.
Bike to Work (or School) Month is May
Be sure to stay tuned for events that you can be involved in. Right now we’ve got a Neighborhood Bike-Ability Audit and Brown Bag on Thursday, April 24th. Join us as we bike around Eastgate and determine how we can improve bicycling infrastructure for Bellevue College cycling commuters. Want to share your experience? Do you bike to school every day? What problems do you see? Would you like to bike to school, if only a certain issue were addressed? This is the place to let us know! We look forward to discussing what can be done to make Bellevue College a welcoming, safe, and visible bicycling community.
