Fall Volunteer Opportunities: Off Campus

  1. Farmer Frog: Bellevue Lake Hills Farms Work Parties
  • Working with the Urban Farmer Educator, volunteers will assist with gardening duties such as weeding, planting and general garden clean up.
  • Wednesdays 10 am-12 pm and Sundays 2 pm-6 pm

2. Pedestrian and Bicycle Implementation Initiative

  • Bellevue supports walking and biking as safe, healthy and attractive alternatives to driving. The Pedestrian & Bicycle Implementation Initiative (PBII) is a complement of action-oriented efforts that will advance project designs and programs identified in the Ped-Bike Plan to make Bellevue a great place to walk and bike.
  • The City of Bellevue is looking for volunteers interested in supporting their Pedestrian and Bicycle Implementation Initiative efforts. You can be an Auditor, Journalist, or Promoter and ensure our community is safe for walking and biking!

3. Wetlab at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center

  • MSEEC’s WetLab Academy offers high school students the opportunity to step away from the traditional high school chemistry curriculum. Utilizing their state-of-the-art laboratory and field equipment, students perform scientific investigations while taking advantage of the living laboratory within the Mercer Slough Nature Park.
  • The Wetlab is seeking a volunteer who has a background or interest in environmental science and working with high school aged youth. Experience in either environmental field work or chemistry labs is required, and a background in both is preferred. Experience in clean technology is a plus.

  1. Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center
  • Polliwog Preschool is a Mercer Slough program for preschoolers (3-5 years old) and is seeking Preschool Volunteers. At Polliwog Preschool we focus on developing the whole child – socially, emotionally, mentally and physically – while initiating them into a lifelong, meaningful relationship with the natural world. The program is play-based and student-driven with stations to choose from, discovery exploration times and specific activities that relate to a new theme each week.
  • Energetic, caring people with a background or interest in early childhood and environmental education are needed to assist with Polliwog Preschool’s many offerings. Volunteers will get a chance to assist Polliwog Preschool Educators while contributing to the success of this popular program.
