It’s our GOLDEN anniversary!

1966 was the start of Bellevue Community College. Today, we are Bellevue College, and are starting our 50th year! Bellevue Community College opened its doors in January, 1966 holding classes in portables on the campus of Newport High School. That was a time when a gallon of gas averaged 32 cents, the US population broke 195 million and miniskirts were in fashion. Today, we’re lucky to find a gallon of gas under $3, our population is nearing 320 million and pretty much anything goes in fashion.

It’s always fun to look at the past, but we are more excited about the future. During our anniversary we will be focused on reinvigorating the pride and enthusiasm for Bellevue College and bringing BC to the forefront in our community. We will be hosting major events across campus, and throughout the community to observe this momentous year. These events will give us the opportunity to celebrate our current and future student’s successes and allow us to honor the achievements and hard work of our alumni, and former faculty and staff. There will be no shortage of activities. It’s going to be an exciting year!
