
Whereas: Bellevue College is now the 3rd largest higher-education institution in Washington, with an annual enrollment of 33,000 including 1700 international students from 74 countries; and
Whereas: 450,000 people have taken classes at Bellevue College since it was founded in 1966; and
Whereas: Bellevue College offers educational opportunities at low tuition rates – from bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and certificate programs to adult education, lifelong learning and dual credit options for high school students; and
Whereas: Bellevue College adds $172 million annually into the regional economy in addition to partnering with over 1,800 business and training 11,000 students each year in skills employers need.
Now, therefore, I, John Stokes, Mayor of the City of Bellevue, Washington, and on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of October 9-15, 2016 as:
Bellevue College’s 50h Anniversary Celebration
in Bellevue, and encourage citizens to join me in recognizing the many contributions of Bellevue College to our community.
