ENGL
201 SUM 2012 is a HYBRID course and students are required to access course materials
online at http://mybcc.net and complete 60% of the course on their own,
outside of class time.
Our
course Facebook Page is https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/313786625381293/
Course Outcomes
How Outcomes will be met
In this class you
will complete a primary research project (an ethnographic interview) and in
order to do a good job at that primary research project, you will also complete
a significant amount of secondary research.
You will choose somebody to interview who you feel is culturally different from
yourself. You will discover what
researchers have been saying about your own identity and the identity of the
person you plan to interview. The
process of designing, researching and carrying out this ethnographic interview
will teach you key skills for researching in academic contexts, but also how to
research and evaluate sources for other purposes as well.
You will also learn
how style guides work and the role of a styleguide when composing a research
report.
