SUDP License Requirements

There are three components to becoming a licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP).  Two of which can be completed here at Bellevue colleges’ Alcohol & Drug Counseling program.


Education:

Credits to be completed via Certificate of Achievement in Alcohol & Drug Counseling program.  If needed, additional course work can be completed through various programs at Bellevue College.

Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT) Work Experience Hours:

This component of the SUDP licensing process is completed in a state certified alcohol drug treatment program under the supervision of a qualified SUDP supervisor.

Certification Exam:

Students graduating from the Alcohol & Drug Counseling program (ALDAC) at Bellevue College may take the NAADAC certification exam prior to the completion of SUDPT of work experience hours.

Note: Students graduating from the Alcohol & Drug Counseling Program having completed the requirements for the Certificate of Achievement in Alcohol & Drug Counseling have the privilege of sitting for the NAADAC certification exam.

Once students have passed the NAADAC exam the following must be completed:

  • Contact DOH for licensee
  • Submit Transcript to DOH
  • SUDP fill out paperwork
