Extra credit policy

There is no such a thing as “extra credit” in this course. However, I understand that sometimes students need to make-up some missing points. To that end, I will provide 3 opportunities to do so. Please check your “announcements” section on your Canvas regularly to take advantage of these occasions.

No on-line translator

Using a translator hurts your learning experience and is considered a form of cheating. I deeply appreciate when you do your assignments on your own. External aid, such as an online English-Spanish translator, is not allowed in this class. Why?

1.     It doesn’t know what NOT to translate

2.     It’s translates every word regardless of context or nuance

3.     It’s translates to the most literal meaning

4.     It doesn’t know what the most appropriate sentence structure to use is

5.     The grammatical structure is consistently different.

http://japanese.lingualift.com/blog/online-translation-good-or-bad/

If you have questions, please consult the vocabulary section in each chapter of your book or the dictionary. Also, I am more than happy to assist you with any doubts you may have or by providing additional resources.

Online conduct & etiquette

Be respectful of instructor and classmates at all time. No vulgar or offensive language will be tolerated. Do not abbreviate words but use correct spelling when typing in Spanish to be better understood by all. English IM and SMS lingo you normally use do not correspond in Spanish and should not be used in our course. ¡Gracias!

Academic Integrity Students are expected to comply with all regulations pertaining to academic honesty, defined as: An intentional act of deception in which a student seeks to claim credit for the work or effort of another person or uses unauthorized materials or fabricated information in any academic work.

Student code

The instructor can refer any violation of the Student Code of Conduct to the Vice President of Student Services for possible probation or suspension from Bellevue College.
