Continuing the pattern of being a somewhat unpredictable team that shows up to play, Bellevue College’s women’s basketball ended a three-game losing skid with an 89-63 win at Shoreline last night. The win keeps Bellevue in the thick of the playoff race as the Bulldogs are currently in fourth place at 8-4 (16-9 overall), but only one game back of second place, thanks to a Skagit Valley win against Peninsula last night.<\/p>\n

Bellevue had the lead throughout the game with Shoreline right on their tail until a breakout fourth quarter in which the Bulldogs threw in 33 points and outscored the Dolphins 33-13 to put the game away. Several players had the hot hand in the high scoring affair for BC. Erin Hamilton, who has strung together several standout performances in a row down the homestretch for the ‘dogs, had 19 points and 6 assists. She made 9-of-13 from the field and played a team high 37 of the 40 minutes in the game after playing the last two consecutive games without a break. The sophomore is developing into the team workhorse as BC is nearing the end of league play. Brenda Akoto broke out of a bit of a slump in the last few games with a big performance in a game that mattered with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Molly Dixon had 17 points and 6 rebounds.<\/p>\n

Bellevue has two games remaining as they battle for playoff seeding for the NWAC Championships.\u00a0 Their next game is at home this Sunday February 25 at 1:00 p.m. against Whatcom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
