It\u2019s been pretty emotional for me telling my guys. I just told them on Sunday during the selection show when we sat together and watched that. 24 years of coaching is how I built my identity and kind of who I am, but this is a challenge that I\u2019m excited for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs (8-6 NWAC, 18-11 overall), tied for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwacsports.org\/basketball\/mens_standings.php\">third in the North Region<\/a>, but earned the No. 3 seed in the region. Umpqua (10-6, 18-9) is the No. 2 seed from the South Region. BC defeated Umpqua 75-69 in an early December tournament encounter.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10275\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10275\" style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/sports\/basketball-m\/photos16-17\/jordan-muir-keung-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10275\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10275 img-fluid \" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/Jordan-Muir-Keung-1-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"information contained in caption\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/Jordan-Muir-Keung-1-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/Jordan-Muir-Keung-1.jpg 477w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10275\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jordan-Muir-Keung<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Bulldogs are led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2017\/03\/MBB-All-Region-16-17.pdf\">first-team all-North Region<\/a> sophomore guards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/sports\/basketball-m\/basketball-m-roster\/jordan-muir-kueng\/\">Jordan Muir-Keung<\/a>, who averages 16.5 points per game, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/sports\/basketball-m\/basketball-m-roster\/taylor-freeman\/\">Taylor Freeman<\/a>, who averages 16.2, but four others average at least seven points. Freshman center <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/sports\/basketball-m\/basketball-m-roster\/max-tilden\/\">Max Tilden<\/a> leads with 6.7 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman guard Trey Nelson was named to the North Region all-defensive team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJordan Muir-Keung and Taylor Freeman have been our leading scorers, but we\u2019ve had any one of seven guys step up and give us games at different times when we needed them,\u201d Eggers said.<\/p>\n<p>BC, which has only two players on the roster 6-5 or taller, have had 11 games decided by five or fewer points.<\/p>\n<p>Emblematic of the Bulldogs resiliency was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwacsports.org\/basketball\/box_score.php?g=5558&amp;sport=mbasketball&amp;home=EvCC&amp;visitor=BCC\">72-70 victory at Everett<\/a> in mid-February when they overcame a 22-point halftime deficit.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10164\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10164\" style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/sports\/basketball-m\/photos16-17\/_q2c2865-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10164\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10164 img-fluid \" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/q2c2865-1-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"Information contained in caption\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/q2c2865-1-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/12\/q2c2865-1.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10164\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Taylor Freeman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been quite a few years since I\u2019ve been part of something like that,\u201d Eggers said. \u201cEven at halftime, we told our guys, if we just make some shots a little tougher for them, and we knock down some shots, that we can get back in it. Sure enough, that\u2019s the exact formula that took place. We started hitting a few shots. I mean, we were 0-for-15 from the 3-point line until the last minute and then hit two of them to win the game. That\u2019s just kind of been the way season\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t quit, we\u2019re in every game, we\u2019ve had a chance every game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Umpqua, led by guard Grant Ellison, the South Region MPV and freshman of the year, was 14-4 at one point, capped by a six-game winning streak, but closed the season by losing three of its last four.<\/p>\n<p>Ellison averages 20.2 points per game, while shooting 51 percent, including 44 percent from 3-point range. Sophomore Jack Danhoff, 14.7 points and 9.5 rebounds, was a second team all-region pick and named to the all-defensive team. 6-10 sophomore Jouvon Edison was the South Region defensive player of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re playing really good basketball right now,\u201d Eggers said. \u201cThey\u2019ve got the freshman of the year on their team who\u2019s MVP of the league, they\u2019ve got the defensive player of the year in the league at 6-10. They\u2019ve got everything. We\u2019ll definitely have our hands full, but we\u2019re excited to have the opportunity to compete in the tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s winners advance to the Elite 8 on Friday, March 10 at the Walt Price Student Fitness Center at Everett.
