Bellevue College women’s tennis continued their dominance in the NWAC tennis scene by capturing the NWAC championship in a dramatic showdown that came down to the final match, defeating Highline 132-129 Saturday in Mount Vernon.<\/p>\n

The title came down to the No. 1 singles match between reigning Baden NWAC Player of the Year Moriah Austin and Highline’s Megan Hagerty. Battling shoulder injuries all year, Austin gutted out perhaps her best performance of the year besting Hagerty, 6-2, 7-6, 6-2 to win the #1 singles title and the team title for the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

Marissa Kirk won the No. 2 singles title in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 and Candice Canley won No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-1.<\/p>\n

Doubles titles went to Holly Wright and Kathleen Nolan who bounced back from taking runner-up in their singles matches to claim No. 2 doubles 4-6, 6-3, (10-4) and to Canley who paired with Yuri Takagi to win No. 3 doubles 6-2, 6-1.<\/p>\n
