{"id":1637,"date":"2013-04-24T08:56:22","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T15:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/?p=1637"},"modified":"2014-01-23T08:58:35","modified_gmt":"2014-01-23T16:58:35","slug":"bulldogs-golf-teams-finish-3rd-and-6th-at-spokane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/2013\/04\/24\/bulldogs-golf-teams-finish-3rd-and-6th-at-spokane\/","title":{"rendered":"BULLDOGS GOLF TEAMS FINISH 3RD AND 6TH AT SPOKANE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BC men\u2019s and women\u2019s golf teams traveled to Spokane for the Bigfoot Invitational played at Hangmen Valley and Indian Canyon golf courses on Sunday, April 21, and Monday, April 22, where the Bulldogs women\u2019s team finished in third place; the men, sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Solid play in the rain and windy conditions by freshman standout Suchada Anusuriya and sophomores Kayce Ogishima and Corey Rois, put the Bulldog women\u2019s team in first place after day one, eight shots ahead of Green River, and Anusuriya held second place individually after the first round, only four strokes behind the lead. Day two was played at the beautiful and tricky Indian Summer golf course where scoring proved difficult for the women as they struggled on the tough course, finally finishing in third place in the team competition. Columbia Basin College rallied all the way from fifth place to take the team title, Green River took second. The third place finish breaks the streak of 12 straight wins by the BC Women. The team still finds itself comfortably in first place in the NWAACC standings with one more league tournament to play next weekend at the beautiful Suncadia Golf Resort in Roslyn.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, Bellevue sophomore Colten Kleis had another solid tournament. After a first-round 76 in rainy and windy conditions, Kleis fired a 71 even par at the tricky Indian Canyon course to finish in a tie for fourth place. &#8220;Colten played well on a golf course he was familiar with, having played in the prestigious Rosauer\u2019s Open held annually at Indian Canyon,\u201d said head coach Kirk Johanson. However, after a tough first day, the men\u2019s team found themselves in seventh place. On day two, the Bulldogs improved position one spot, finishing the tournament in sixth place. Solid second rounds were turned in by Ryan Maul and Brandon Shin both shooting 74. Jack Strickland closed with a 75, and Eric Frank finished with a 77.
