Bellevue Community College coach Dani Baird has resigned as assistant softball coach to take a head coaching position at Skagit Valley College. Baird served as an assistant coach at BCC the past two years and helped guide the Bulldogs to a North Region title and their school best record of 42-6 this past season.\u00a0 She works in the Mount Vernon area and the Skagit Valley opening provided a good fit for her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a great time coaching at BCC and really enjoyed working with the players and coaching staff\u201d stated Baird. \u201cWhile I am sad to leave BCC I am excited for the opportunity to coach in my home town and look forward to the challenge of being the head coach at Skagit Valley.\u201d<\/p>\n
Baird played her collegiate softball from 2003-2006 for the University of Oregon, helping her team earn a berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2003, 2004 and 2005.\u00a0 During her time at U.O., she was named First Team Pac-10 All-Academic in 2004, 2005 and 2006 as well as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete all three years.\u00a0 In 2006, Danielle was voted to the Pac-10 Honorable Mention Team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were very fortunate to have Dani a part of this program for the past two seasons.\u00a0 She was a great addition to the coaching staff,\u201d said Head Coach Leah Francis.\u00a0 \u201cDani is a very good friend of mine and she will be missed.\u00a0 I understand her desire to coach in the community she lives and works and I believe she will do a great job there.\u00a0 With Skagit in our division, I am sure we will have some great battles with them in the years to come!\u00a0 I wish her nothing but the best and hope she can help turn Skagit Valley into an NWAACC contender!\u201d<\/p>\n
