{"id":21941,"date":"2019-01-12T20:01:46","date_gmt":"2019-01-13T04:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/?p=21941"},"modified":"2019-02-26T13:39:35","modified_gmt":"2019-02-26T21:39:35","slug":"hot-second-half-propels-bc-men-to-65-62-win-over-skagit-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/2019\/01\/12\/hot-second-half-propels-bc-men-to-65-62-win-over-skagit-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot Second Half Propels BC Men to 65-62 Win Over Skagit Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>photo: Malik Sanchez drives for a layup in the win over Skagit Valley. photo by Rick May<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bellevue College men\u2019s basketball came back from a 12 point halftime deficit to defeat Skagit Valley at home 65-62 tonight at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to playing somewhat of a sloppy first half, committing 11 turnovers, Bellevue fell victim to Skagit Valley\u2019s hot hand as the Cardinals scorched Bellevue with 41 points on nearly 50% shooting from the field.<\/p>\n<p>BC played clean basketball all around in the second half as Curtis Walker was 6-for-8 from the field, scoring 14 of his 16 points in the second frame to lead Bellevue. Bellevue took it\u2019s turn with the hot hand, shooting 47% while Skagit cooled down to 33%.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs whittled down the Skagit 12 point lead throughout the first part of the second half, and took the lead at the 7:36 mark on a jump shot by Walker.\u00a0 The lead would then be exchanged several times, winding down to the final seconds before a foul by Skagit\u2019s Cade Isakson put BC\u2019s Emmanuel Siale at the line. The sophomore drained both to put BC up 64-62 with only seconds to go to seal the win.<\/p>\n<p>Walker led Bellevue with 16 points. He was 7-for-11 from the field and also led the \u2018dogs with seven rebounds. Malik Sanchez added 12.<\/p>\n<p>Bellevue is now 1-1 in league (10-5 overall) while Skagit Valley falls to 0-2 in league (8-8 overall). The Bulldogs\u2019 next action is Wednesday January 16 at Whatcom.
