Bellevue College women\u2019s soccer played in two matches last week against Olympic College on Sept. 29 and Clackamas CC on October 2nd .\u00a0 In the first match taking place in Bremerton, WA, the Bulldogs played tentative against a very strong Olympic squad according to Coach Sasha Shefts.\u00a0 Jessie Oliver and Deirdre Dornay both scored goals in the first half for BC at 12\u2019 and 40\u2019 respectively.\u00a0 The Bulldogs entered half-time with a 2-1 lead as they looked to make adjustments against the Rangers; even with the lead.\u00a0 In the second half, \u201cthe girls came out more relaxed and played a better style to beat one-on-one match ups\u201d said Shefts.\u00a0 This was evident as the Bulldogs proceeded to add four goals and take the match 6-2.\u00a0 Jaime Lindstrom scored two goals, Oliver added another, and Tina Jacobsen scored the last goal for BC in the 70th minute.\u00a0 By game\u2019s end, Shefts gave praise to the team\u2019s forwards acknowledging them for their strong offensive output.<\/p>\n
In the second match of the week, the Bulldogs did not fare as well hosting Clackamas at home on Saturday October 2nd .\u00a0 At the time, Clackamas was ranked 2nd in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College (NWAACC) Horizon Air Coaches\u2019 Poll.\u00a0 The team \u201cplayed hard but came away frustrated against a great opponent,\u201d said Shefts. Bellevue College trailed the entire game, 3-0 at half-time, eventually falling 3-1.\u00a0 The only offensive output for the Bulldogs came from Oliver in the 40th minute.\u00a0 The Bulldogs\u2019 women\u2019s soccer team currently holds a record of 4-1-0 in league play.\u00a0 The team has scored 31 goals and allowed only 13 while registering two shutouts in the process.\u00a0 The Bulldogs are ranked second overall in the NWAACC Coaches\u2019 Poll.\u00a0 A new poll will be released on Wednesday, October 13th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
