The win also gave the Bulldogs the series, as the two teams split on Friday night.

In the opener on Friday, it was a duel of two of the top left-handers in the NWAC as BC’s Nick Miller squared off against Mount Hood’s Dawson Day, a transfer from Seattle University who has been touted as the most dominant left-handed pitcher in the region. Both pitchers controlled the game, but Miller was sharper throwing 60 strikes out of 80 total pitches in a three-hit shutout through six innings of work and was followed by Jared Maxfield who threw 30 of 39 for strikes as the two combined for the shutout. A mishandled defensive play by Day allowed two runs to score before Riley Parker hit his third home run to seal the win.

In the nightcap, Eric Anderson was brilliant through 6 2/3 innings but ran out of steam giving up three quick runs with two outs to spot Mount Hood a lead the ‘dogs could not recover from, losing 6-3. Bellevue rallied in the ninth as the ‘dogs had three consecutive hits off Mount Hood ace reliever Tucker Grote. After scoring two runs and runners at second and third, a strikeout and ground out ended the threat to give Mount Hood the edge.

In the rubber match on Saturday, Warren Utschinski was sharp through three innings in a spot start but gave way to a struggling bullpen which gave up 10 runs in the final six innings. Luckily, the Bellevue bats were on fire, as the ‘dogs were carried by Seitz’ heroic three-home run day as the team hit a total of five home runs in the 11-10 win. The game also featured 10 errors as swirling winds made catching routine fly balls difficult for both squads’ outfield troops. Garrett Gants blasted his first home run of the year while Parker tanked another one; his fourth of the year and second of the series. Ironically, all of Parker’s four home runs have come against the Saints.

The Bulldogs have won six of their last seven games heading into their North Region battle against longtime rival Edmonds this Friday April 19 at 4:00 p.m. at Courter Field.

It is one feat to hit a home run in a game, but Bellevue's Kye Seitz took accomplishments to another level by smashing three home runs in three straight at-bats leading Bellevue to an 11-10 win last night in a game that was delayed four hours due to rain.
