In a critical league series between two of the top teams in the North Region, the Bellevue College Bulldogs continued to show they are the top-ranked team in the NWAC for a reason as they swept visiting Olympic by scores of 7-5 and 10-1.<\/p>\n
In the opener, the Bulldogs took advantage of Olympic errors as the squad was actually out hit by the Rangers in a rare occasion. Three of Bellevue’s seven runs were unearned. In a pitchers duel through three, Darian Olin’s double drove in Lauren Schwartz and Tori McDowell after an error getting BC on the board up 2-0. After an Olympic home run in the top of the fifth, tying the game at 2-2,\u00a0 Tatum Dow, the NWAC’s RBI leader, did her thing again by driving in two runs with a double to put Bellevue up for good. Dow added another RBI in the sixth, giving BC an insurance run as the ‘dogs went up 7-4.<\/p>\n
In the nightcap, the bats got going early as Tori McDowell hit a two-run home run to stake Bellevue a 3-0 lead in the first. For the game, McDowell would go 3-for-3 with 3 RBI’s. Dow had two doubles and scored three times for BC as Carissa McDowell and Macey Sykes combined for a three-hitter in the circle. McDowell went the first four, in a game that was shortened to five innings due to the run rule.<\/p>\n
The win keeps Bellevue atop the North Region with an 18-2 league record (29-4 overall). The Bulldogs travel to take on Skagit Valley on Saturday for continued league play. The 1:00 p.m. start is set at Skagit Playfields in Mount Vernon.<\/p>\n
