For the sixth consecutive year the Bellevue College women won the NWAC tennis team championships yesterday at Spokane Falls Community College.<\/p>\n
Bellevue and Highline women had a tight race entering the final two matches of the day. The score was 105 Bellevue, 103 Highline.<\/p>\n
Bellevue then took a pair of championships, highlighted by freshman Sofia Panchuk’s singles #1 win over Spokane sophomore Hannah Plank 6-0, 6-1. Panchuk was never challenged as she only lost 3 sets in the two matches she played. Bellevue finished with 135 points to Highline’s 103.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Panchuk\u00a0teamed with freshman Chen-Yu Tang\u00a0to defeat\u00a0Highline sophomore Miriam Cabrera\u00a0and freshman Alexis Maison 9-7 in pro set action.<\/p>\n
Bellevue and Highline split the six singles titles as each team won three apiece. It was the doubles play that won it for BC as the ‘dogs won all three. In addition to the Panchuk-Tang victory for #1 doubles, Anna Sneesby and Annie Luong won #2 doubles 8-3 over Highline’s Danielle Mendoza and Mikyla Olson.\u00a0 Haylee Irving and Joanne Sakoda took home #3 doubles with a tough 9-7 win over Treasure Valley’s Jandee Nakamura and Haleigh Taylor.<\/p>\n
