Bellevue College baseball lost 13-3 to Yakima Valley in the championship of the East Super Regionals on Sunday May 19 at Parker Field. After a 2-run home run by Dominic Marinez put the Bulldogs up 2-0, a combination of 5 errors and timely hits by Yakima Valley blew the game open en route to the easy Yaks win.<\/p>\n
Prior to the championship game, on Friday May 17, the Bulldogs topped Chemeketa, the South Region #4 seed, 10-5 behind the 12-strikeout performance by Brock Hathaway.\u00a0 Garrett Gants, who was earlier named First Team All-Region in addition to Hathaway, led the team with 3 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI’s. On Saturday May 18, the ‘dogs had a tough task in facing the NWAC’s top pitcher, Alec Gomez as BC faced host Yakima Valley, the East Region #2 seed. Gomez and Bellevue’s Nick Miller, who had not pitched in a month due to shoulder tightness, were evenly matched as the game was tied 3-3 through 8 innings. Marinez and Gants delivered the big hits with RBI’s to tie the game at 3. In the bottom of the ninth, Yakima ended the game with dramatic flair as they executed three bunts to win the game with a walk-ff suicide squeeze. Following the heartbreaking loss, the Bulldogs bounced back in a loser-out game to top Chemeketa 11-6. Riley Gill and Lukas Motta both homered while Ethan Smith had 2 doubles to lead BC’s offense.<\/p>\n
Although the ‘dogs made it to the championship, their defense and pitching ended up being on the short end as the squad committed a total of 14 errors over the weekend.The Bulldogs end their season with a record of 32-16, and was part of the most dominant region in the NWAC as the North Region was the sole region in the NWAC to have three 30-win teams (Everett, Edmonds, Bellevue).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
