{"id":2367,"date":"2010-10-04T11:02:57","date_gmt":"2010-10-04T18:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/?p=2367"},"modified":"2014-02-03T11:03:19","modified_gmt":"2014-02-03T19:03:19","slug":"bulldogs-mens-soccer-win-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/2010\/10\/04\/bulldogs-mens-soccer-win-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Bulldogs Men\u2019s Soccer Win Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 29th, the Bellevue College men\u2019s soccer team also played a match against Olympic College.\u00a0 It was a unique match as Coach Sasha Shefts made many substitutions once again.\u00a0 In the first half, Bellevue\u2019s Andy Fordyce scored two goals (21\u2019 and 35\u2019) and RJ Sorensen scored a goal at 22\u2019.\u00a0 The attack came against a dangerous style of play by Olympic, condensing the field, trying to trap the Bulldogs according the Shefts. At half-time, nine players were substituted and again, BC showed what luxuries they have with the depth of their roster.\u00a0 The Bulldogs continued to attack Olympic aggressively scoring four goals in the second half.\u00a0 Luiggi Montero contributed two goals within a minute of each other (70\u2019 and 71\u2019), while Tsutomu Ando (65\u2019) and Esteban Reyes (88\u2019) polished off the scoring to end the game. \u201cThe boys just went out and played soccer without worrying about the other team.\u201d Olympic, meanwhile, accumulated five yellow cards to Bellevue\u2019s one during the match.\u00a0 Shefts was quick to point out the opponent was clearly frustrated at the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>In the second match of the week for the men\u2019s team, Pierce College\u2019s Femi Akinniyi scored early against the home team in the 11th minute.\u00a0 However, that goal may have been prevented had the Bulldogs been able to start one of their two regular goal keepers.\u00a0 Forward Luiggi Montero started the game in goal because the Bulldogs\u2019 goal keepers arrived late.\u00a0 Shefts adjusted the game plan accordingly to help Montero as the team weathered the storm. All three goals for BC came in the last ten minutes of the game just in time to win 3-1.\u00a0\u00a0 RJ Sorensen, Esteban Reyes, and captain Josh Strasser scored to give the Bulldogs a 3-2-0 record in league play.\u00a0 Reyes\u2019 goal came on a free kick.\u00a0 They are currently 3rd in the west division of the NWAACC standings. Overall, \u201cit was a very physical game and the team showed great character in this win\u201d said Shefts.
