The Highline Thunderbirds topped visiting Bellevue College last night 80-55 in a shooting fest from long range. Between the two teams, there were 62 attempted three-pointers out of the 131 total shots in the game. While neither team was particularly hot (Highline 36%, Bellevue 26%) from long range, the Thunderbirds controlled the offense and got off 70 shots in the game as they outrebounded BC 46-30.<\/p>\n
Micah Jessie of Highine hurt Bellevue the most with 11 rebounds including 5 offensive and ended up with 21 points.<\/p>\n
After falling behind by as much as 13 points in the first half, BC would scratch back to cut the deficit to seven at 37-30 by halftime. Bellevue was 0-for-5 from the field to start off the second half which gave Highline their cushioned lead once again that they gradually extended through the game.<\/p>\n
With 4:54 to go in the game, Highline was up by more than 30 points at 80-49. Although the T-Birds failed to score for the rest of the game, the game became a shootout from long range with no results as the teams threw up eight failed three-point attempts in the final few minutes.<\/p>\n
Trevon Richmond went 7-for-12 from the field for 18 points to lead Bellevue. Although he went scoreless in the game, Try Lawrence pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists; both were team-highs.<\/p>\n
