After competing for two full halves in a tough road environment and going to overtime at Olympic, Bellevue’s men’s basketball team went ice cold, making only one of seven attempts in overtime and eventually fell, 84-78 last night in Bremerton.<\/p>\n
In the first half, Bellevue took a 36-34 lead into the locker room at halftime with a solid first half based around 23 rebounds and 11-of-20 shooting from within the three-point line. Trey Lawrence was exceptionally sharp on defense with a team-high 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the half.<\/p>\n
In the second half, Bellevue’s shooting touch cooled off but were aided by strong play off the bench as Jalen Womack had 7 rebounds and Gabriel Moujaes was the sole Bulldog with the hot hand, pouring in 10 points. He was 3-for-4 from the field including 2-for-3 from three-point range and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.<\/p>\n
In a wild second half that featured several lead changes, the ‘dogs appeared to have it wrapped up with a four point lead at 73-69 after a layup by Gerald Hood with :34 to go. In the finals seconds, Olympic came up clutch when the had to, sinking a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line while Bellevue went 0-for-4 to led Olympic back in the game and into overtime.<\/p>\n
The deflated Bellevue team from the end of regulation play couldn’t get things going in overtime. Although Belleuve remained within striking distance, a steal and layoup by Olympic’s Derrius Stewart with 1:43 put the Rangers up by five at 82-77. The Rangers again would come up with clutch free throw shooting as Bellevue was forced into foul mode with less than a minute to play. Olympic’s Zac Olmsted’s two free throws with :31 left sealed the win for Olympic.<\/p>\n
Bellevue is now 0-5 (1-18 overall) and will travel to Everett Community College this Wednesday January 29 for a 7:00 game against the Trojans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
