Bellevue women’s basketball came ready to play last night, winning 73-65 in a tough road matchup at Peninsula College. The Bulldogs played one of their most consistent games from the opening tipoff until the final buzzer as the squad raced out to a 34-27 lead at halftime.<\/p>\n
Peninsula had one brief lead at 14-12 late in the first quarter but the Bulldogs answered right back with a layup by Dakota Laut and the three pointer by Kate Rutledge. The 17-14 first quarter edge was a lead Bellevue would keep for the remainder of the game.<\/p>\n
Peninsula fought back several times, closing gaps as big as 17 down to four. With the score 50-42 Bellevue to start off the final quarter, the Pirates chipped away and got to within four at 55-51 early with 7:04 left to play. Bellevue’s Natalie Amos led the charge as BC scored on their next three possessions to give the ‘dogs breathing room the rest of the way. Bellevue’s offense clutched up numerous times throughout the entire night hitting big shots killing several Peninsula threats. The ‘dogs shot 67% from the field in the final quarter. Rutledge came off the bench and was hot all night, draining all five of her attempts and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point arc for 14 points.<\/p>\n
Amos led Bellevue with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Amanda Luckett had 10 rebounds and 14 points.<\/p>\n
Bellevue (6-2 league, 13-5 overall) hosts Skagit Valley this Saturday February 8 at 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
