Skagit Valley, coming off their first loss of the year on Wednesday losing in a buzzer-beater to Everett at home, came running out of the gates cruising to an easy 86-56 win tonight at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The visiting Cardinals not only shot nearly 50% from the field, but also got off a whopping 67 attempts as well. The Cardinals were even hotter from three-point range, burying nine of them on a 56% shooting clip.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs not only shot poorly in the first half, but early foul trouble sent Skagit Valley to the free throw line giving the Cardinals a 10-0 point advantage at the line. Everything going Skagit Valley’s way early on led to an 18-2 Skagit Valley lead just six minutes into the game. A 15-footer by BC’s Gerald Hood finally broke the ice making in 18-4 after the Bulldogs went nearly five minutes without scoring a point. Skagit’s largest lead was 42-14 with just over a minute to go in the first half.<\/p>\n
While Bellevue would show momentary flashes of reducing the lead, the Cardinals built the lead back up to 33 points on a three-pointer by Kaleb Duitsman with 2:52 to go.<\/p>\n
Bellevue was led by Trevon Richmond’s 16 points. Marshall Clark added 13 and also pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds.<\/p>\n
The Bulldogs’ next game will be this Wednesday February 12 at Whatcom. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
