Bellevue College softball under the new reigns of Head Coach Parris Mamon, went 1-3 but played competitively against two of the toughest teams in the NWAC in Lower Columbia and Clackamas on season-opening weekend at Bellevue College. On Saturday, the Bulldogs lost 10-1 to Lower Columbia in their season opener before falling 19-6 against Clackamas.<\/p>\n
Today on Sunday, the ‘dogs bounced back with a 9-6 win over Clackamas before falling 15-11 to Lower Columbia. In the season’s first win, Bellevue’s Tori McDowell led the way with 3 RBI and a home run as the Bulldogs scored five in the final frame to come back from a 5-4 deficit in the seventh. McDowell’s 3-run bomb scored Elise Allen who walked and Jillian Zachry who singled to spark the rally. Allen, Nicole Leadley, and Shayla Cole each had two hits to lead BC.<\/p>\n
In the nightcap tonight, BC could not hold onto the lead as the Bulldogs gave up 4 runs in the final inning despite 18 hits by the Bulldog offense. Zachry led the way with 4 hits while freshman Lizzy Olsen had three including a triple. A total of 287 pitches were thrown collectively in the slugfest between both teams.<\/p>\n
