{"id":24797,"date":"2020-05-13T20:39:01","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T03:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/?p=24797"},"modified":"2020-05-28T20:46:06","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T03:46:06","slug":"ray-washburn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/athletics\/2020\/05\/13\/ray-washburn\/","title":{"rendered":"Ray Washburn"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24935 alignleft img-fluid \" src=\"https:\/\/www.bellevuecollege.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/05\/HOF-Ray-Washburn.jpg\" alt=\"Ray Washburn\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/>Baseball &#8211; Inaugural Inductee 2019<\/h2>\n<p>Ray Washburn came to Bellevue Community College in 1971 following a 10-year career in the major leagues, where he won two World Series rings while pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals, and pitched in a third World Series with the Cincinati Reds.<\/p>\n<p>Washburn also made history on Sept. 18, 1968 by no-hitting the San Francisco Giants 2-0 at Candlestick Park, just 16 hours after Gaylord Perry no-hit the Cardinals the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>He served in many capacities at Bellevue, serving as athletic director for 9 years, intramurals director, full-time faculty, assistant baseball coach and head baseball coach for 10 years.
