Bellevue College men’s basketball lost 70-64 to Everett in their final game of the 2021 delayed season. The Bulldogs staged a valiant comeback in the second half but couldn’t make up enough ground after falling behind 39-27 after the first half. Down 24-19 with 5:22 left in the first half, the Trojans went on a 15-8 run to make the halftime lead large enough to make BC’s comeback bid difficult.<\/p>\n
In the second half Bellevue made things interesting as Ben Oleson drained a three-pointer with 10:44 to go to close the gap to four, 51-47. Bellevue would then stay with Everett and was within striking distance until a little less than 2:00 to go in the game. Everett prevented any further comeback by converting 6-of-9 free throws down the stretch as Bellevue was forced to foul in the closing minute to keep their chances alive. O’Landa Baker had 18 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Jett Briceno had 17 points and 7 rebounds on 7-for-13 shooting.<\/p>\n
Everett closed the season with a six game win streak while Bellevue dropped its final three as BC finished at 9-6 overall and in third place in the North Region. Everett finished 12-6 due to fewer games cancelled due to covid protocols. The third place finish nevertheless was one of the biggest turnarounds in NWAC men’s basketball as the Bulldogs improved on a 3-25 record the year prior.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
