In a tradition spanning 51 years with winners’ names on plaques in the baseball office, the annual Bellevue College baseball team award winners were tallied with sophomores Nick Hovland and Ben Schulte leading the way. Captain Hovland won the Gold Glove Award and the Paul Villiott Most Inspirational Award while Schulte won the Silver Bat (top hitter) and MVP.<\/p>\n

Schulte edged teammate Pierce Leavengood in a two-man race for the Silver Bat and was the clear-cut winner for MVP. Hovland edged out Fred Buckson by two votes for Gold Glove while Schulte finished third in votes with six. Hovland edged Ty Emmons and Aaron Barokas for Inspirational. The club was loaded with great teammates as a whopping seven other players including TreSean Steele, Emmons, Mack Mahovlich, Brett Otterson, James Meader, Marques Titialii, Kyle Green, Avery McGinnis, and Ian McIntosh all received votes from their peers.<\/p>\n

In another category that featured a wealth of names nominated, the Most Improved Award went to outfielder Bryce Lindberg who edged out Harrison Clark and Titialii by one vote. Others nominated were Cal Kirchoff, Josiah Santiago, Otterson, Meader, Emmons, Leavengood, McGinnis, McIntosh, and<\/p>\n

Michael Attalah, who sported a miniscule 0.72 ERA while giving up only 11 hits in 25 innings as a reliever, won the Most Valuable Pitcher Award, edging out Jacob Dahlstrom and Cal Kirchoff for the honor.<\/p>\n
