Bellevue College women’s basketball used a 36-6 second quarter surge to cruise to an 85-29 win over visiting Highline tonight at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After what fans thought would be a competitive game following a 14-10 first quarter, the ‘dogs made nearly everything they threw up in the second quarter, shooting an electric 81% from the field on 13-for-16 shooting including a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range. Helena Van Ess and Bri Byrnes accounted for 21 of the 36 second quarter points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BC continued the scoring spree in the second half outscoring the T-Birds 22-9 and 13-4 respectively in the third and fourth quarters. In the third quarter, McKayla Rodriguez yanked down seven rebounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sav Huerta scored 20 points while Byrnes had 19 and Van Ess 17. Van Ess also had seven rebounds behind Rodriguez’ team-high of nine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
