Bellevue College women’s soccer advanced to the 2024 NWAC Women’s Soccer Championship game by way of a 5-3 advantage in the penalty kick shootout against Columbia Basin on Friday afternoon at Starfire Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After falling behind 1-0 early in the second half, the Bulldogs battled back to tie the game in the 86th minute on a goal by Sarai Perdomo, assisted by Natalie Jas. The goal sent the match to overtime, where neither team was able to score the golden goal. Perdomo had a similar game-winning goal in the regional round for Bellevue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Twenty minutes of back-and-forth overtime action saw chances on both sides, but the keepers stood strong to send the match to a penalty kick shootout. The Bulldogs went 5-for-5 in the shootout and got a save by keeper Laraine Sims on CBC’s third shooter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hawks got on the scoreboard first in the 54th minute as Rosie Aguilera sent a shot on net that was saved by the keeper, but the rebound bounced out to the foot of Madeline Dorendorf, who connected for her second goal of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bellevue won the overall shot total by a narrow 11-10 margin. After a tightly played first half with just five total shots, the second half opened up more offensively with 12 total. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bulldogs advance to the finals for the first time since 2010, but will be looking for their first title in program history. Columbia Basin, a year after winning the championship, finishes the season with an impressive 11-1-4 overall record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
